| Slight Increase in Unemployment |
The unemployment rate in Norway has increased slightly, but slower than before, and at the end of February it reached 3.2 per cent of the total work force, up from 3.1 per cent at the end of 2009.
Unemployment is highest in building and construction and among industrial workers, with 7.2 and 5.2 per cent respectively.
The highest unemplyment rate is registered in Oslo, with 4 per cent, while the lowest is found in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, with 2.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, unemployment continued to rise also in Europe as a whole.
Denmark saw an increase of 0.9 percentage points at the end of last year. The unemployment rate in Denmark is now 7.4 per cent. In the EU-15 countries, the unemployment rate rose by 0.2 percentage points, ending at 9.6 per cent. In France unemployment rose by 0.3 percentage points, ending at 10.0 per cent of the labor force in December.
