Today, total investment on the Norwegian shelf is estimated to be over 170 billion NOK (increasing from 150 billion in 2011). The supplier industry has full order books until 2015. New discoveries have been made just west of Stavanger and the number of exploration wells are expected to remain at a high level for many years to come. In this context, Greater Stavanger Economic Department has asked local businesses what challenges they face and has spearheaded several initiatives looking at how to capitalize on this opportunity. These proposals have recently been presented at the Energy Strategy Forum in Stavanger.
